Bionic eyes become a reality

Today while I was giving a glance on Engadget, I have find an interesting article: “Bionic lens to debut in the next half-decade”

I have always thought since my childhood that having bionic eyes is pretty intriguing. Any one who have watched 6 million Dollar man would probably think alike.

Dante Cesa of Engadget, the author of the mentioned article that according to Professor James Wolffsohn from Aston University in the United Kingdom imagines that within the next decade, the cure to near- and farsightedness will not only exist, but will actually be within reach. Beyond the concept what makes that this is possible is because they are also working with some opthology companies to commercialize the whole concept.

Without any doubt this is a good news with people with eye problems and for blind people. The possibility of combining the bionic lenses/eyes with other type of computer technologies would also make a great contribution and would yield to new advances for people with eye-problems or for professionals like doctors, pilots who might receive additional information about what they see. The potential is endless and advances in nanotechnology and nanoscale fabrication techniques would make possible the creation of these kind of advanced bionic eyes.

Bionic eyed modern Cyclops would replace all concepts previously appeared on comics or movies like Terminator, Bionic Woman…

Bu rehber herhangi bir nedenle tanımadık bir bilgisayardan ya da bir siberkafeden internete bağlananların mail ya da diğer online hesaplarını, şifrelerini çok kullanıcısı ve güvenliği çok iyi sağlanamamış bilgisayarlarda yaygın olan keylogger türü programlar yüzünden pisi pisine kaybetmesini önleyebilecek basit ve pratik bir çözüm öneriyor. (En azından çakallık yapan keyloggercinin işini zorlaştırır diyelim.)

Keylogger bilgisayarınızda tuşladığınız herşeyin bir dosyaya kaydedilmesi ve daha sonra bu kötü alışkanlık sahibi arkadaş tarafından okunması olarak kısaca anlatılabilir. Mantık çok basit. Aşağıda yazılan koruma tedbiri öneriai de aynen düz mantığa dayanıyor. Yazıyı yazan Francis Vega bu eklediğim bağlantıda görünen makaleden ilham almış: How To Login From an Internet Cafe Without Worrying About Keyloggers, Velhasıl sanıyorum o adamda makalesini yazmadan evvel başka yerlerden ilham almış : ekşi sözlük, keylogger.

Sonuçta kişisel bilgilerinizin ve şifrelerinizin korunması için kesin çözüm değil elbette. Yine de yazmaya devam edeyim.

  • Bağlanmak istediğiniz hesabın olduğu sayfaya gidin,
  • Kullanıcı adınızı girin,
  • Mouse imlecini ekrandaki bir başka yere tıklayın (adres çubuğu olabilir) ve anlamsız bir dizi harf, sayı yazın mesela: shk2c5g3j45gcbj3,
  • Şifre kutucuğuna geri gelip, şifrenizin ilk harfini yazın,
  • İmleci yine dışarıya bir yere götürüp, lagaralugara bir dizi harf yazmaya devam edin,
  • Uygun gördüğünüz anda yeniden şifre kutucuğuna gelip bu sefer 2. harfi ekleyin,
  • Kendinizi güvende hissedinceye kadar bu tekniği uygulamaya devam edin, şifreniz tamamlanınca, gönder tuşuna basın.

En el blog de Marble Station he encontrado una guía my completa para los que quieren optimizar la instalación de Ubuntu 6.10 con opciones y aplicaciones que no vienen por defecto. Sin duda un enlace útil:

Una vez recién instalada Ubuntu Edgy (6.10) es necesario personalizarla con tal de poder trabajar con ella cómodamente. Por desgracia hay muchas aplicaciones que no vienen instaladas por defecto o bien su configuración no es la que ofrece más versatilidad, con esta guía rápida podremos poner nuestro sistema a punto para trabajar.

W.bloggar, windows blogging interface

While I was checking the weblog of the uruguayan web design studio “studio.st“, I found out that there is a nice and simple blogging tool called w.bloggar (people of studio.st are using it in conjunction with blogger in order to feed their nicely laid design with content, though they opted for wordpress for their weblog).

W.bloggar is a windows based freeware blogging client that acts like an interface between you and your blogging system. This means that you could write and organize your blog entries offline and publish them whenever you want/could just with a click (and on more than one blog if you want). It is very efficient and time-saving tool as it is designed for blog publishing and it offers more than doing the same thing on notepad and pasting your entry in the post editor of your blogging service..

It has a long feature list but the software itself is simple and intuitive. Besides writing new blog entries, what yields this blogging a great help and powerful are options like the ability to edit already published posts, edit your blog template, spellchecking of your posts, ping option and an account wizard that helps you register and administrate several blog services. Also it permits the bloggers to make use of gimmicks like this :

, which is a cooperation between w.bloggar and windows media blogging plug-in (more info here) , but in my opinion this is the least.

W.bloggar recognizes lots of blogging services and blog management systems like blogger, wordpress, movable type, typepad, Drupal, .Text etc.. You could check the whole list of supported blog tools and services in their faq page to see if this works for you. (Although this list is long, unfortunately it seems that there is no plan to publish it on Mac and Linux, but I will try it on Linux with Wine HQ and make it known if it works or not..) (update: unfortunately I could not make it work with Wine HQ on Suse 9.1)

My short experience with w.bloggar is very positive. As ecto software did not even work at all on our and my friends’ windows pcs, I am not able to make a contrasted evaluation. It was a bit frustrating with ecto which was totally the opposite of my current euphory due to my recent discovery of w.bloggar. I also read positive commentaries on Ecto, especially from the author of problogger.net (and several other blogs), Darren Rowse who mentioned it during his interview with Susannah Gardner. He seems to publish some dozens of blog entries a day on his blogs and ecto tool seems to assist his inspiration efficiently.
